FIND YARN FOR YOUR PROJECT
You have the idea - We have the yarn
Many find inspiration from designers, in knitting books, and on social media. While we can't show all models here, we want to share what we love most: the possibilities in yarn.
One yarn can often be used for much more than one might think. A cotton quality, for example, can be perfect for bags, children's clothing, summer tops, and crochet projects, while a carry-along thread, sequin yarn, or Make It Tweed can give a familiar design a whole new look.
Here you'll find inspiration for our most popular yarn qualities, what they are suitable for, and how you can use them in new ways.

Sequin yarn
Add some sparkle
Sequin yarn is an easy way to give your knitting a whole new look. The thread is knitted along as an accompanying thread and can be used in many different projects – from sweaters and cardigans to tops and accessories.
You generally do not change the gauge, but add a subtle play and a touch of sparkle. Try it with a neutral yarn for an elegant expression or combine with colours for a more festive look.

You have the idea – we have the yarn
Perhaps you've found your next pattern in a book, on social media, or from a designer. Although we cannot display all models here on the website, we would be happy to help you find the yarn for your project.
Many patterns and designs are shared by talented designers, authors, and publishers, which is why we are not always able to display the models here. However, we can help with inspiration for yarn choices and show how the same yarn quality can be used for many different types of projects.
Many of our yarn qualities can be used for much more than you might initially think, and often there are several good alternatives to the yarn specified in the pattern. The same yarn, for example, can be used for everything from sweaters and cardigans to tops, children's clothes, bags, and crochet projects – all depending on the design, gauge, and the look you desire.
Small changes can also make a big difference. A held-along thread, a sequin yarn, or Make It Tweed can give a project a completely new look without necessarily changing the basic idea of the pattern.
Let yourself be inspired by the possibilities, explore our most popular yarn qualities, and use the yarn calculator as a starting point to find yarn for your next project.

Make the project your own
Same recipe – many options
The pattern is only the starting point. The same model can take on a completely new look with different colours, stripes, contrasting edges, or by combining several yarn qualities.
Perhaps you prefer pink over brown, green over grey – or stripes over solid-coloured knit. Small changes like a carry-along thread, Make It Tweed, or sequin yarn can also give a familiar design a completely new lease of life.
You choose the colours. You choose the expression.

Find the right yarn for your pattern
You don't have to use the exact yarn specified in the pattern. Many designs can be knitted with different yarn qualities, as long as the gauge, yardage, and yarn properties are suitable for the project.
At Daugaard Garn, we help you find a yarn that gives you the look you want – whether the pattern comes from a designer, a magazine, or a knitting book.
