ONION Alpaca + Merino Wool + Nettles is one of those qualities where the fiber composition truly shows and can be felt in the finished result. Alpaca and merino wool provide the soft, warm feel, while nettle fibers add the characteristic mottled play and a slight sheen that makes the colors come alive.
This creates a truly lovely knit with more depth than a completely uniform wool yarn. Even a simple sweater or cardigan gains character because the different fibers of the yarn interact on the surface – making it a quality where the yarn can easily be a large part of the design.
It is ideal for sweaters, cardigans, vests, and other knits that should be soft and warm, yet still have a light and lively expression. And there's something quite luxurious about the combination of soft alpaca and the slightly more rustic, natural character of nettle fibers.
If you want to make the expression even more special, you can also add an effect yarn. Cosmo can provide small glimpses of sequins, while Make it Tweed can amplify the rustic and lively expression even more.
🧶 How much do you need?
For a standard adult sweater or pullover, you should typically expect around 6–9 balls, depending on size and model.
Why choose ONION Alpaca + Merino Wool + Nettles?
Because you don't have to choose between soft and exciting. Alpaca and merino provide that luxurious feel you want to wrap yourself in, while nettle fibers ensure that the yarn isn't just another classic wool quality.
It's a yarn with its very own character – and a really good choice when even a simple sweater should look a little more special.
Colors may vary slightly from screen to screen and may therefore differ slightly from the actual color of the yarn.
