An Icelandic sweater with a story hidden in the pattern.

Selir is inspired by the seals along the Icelandic coast – seals resting on the black sand with the sea and birds all around them. The inspiration has been translated into a striking pattern across the yoke, which gives the sweater a very distinct Nordic look.

The design is for adults and features a classic, simple shape that lets the multi-colored pattern take center stage. Different sleeve lengths are specified for women and men.

You choose all 4 colors for your kit yourself, so you can stick to the model's cool gray and blue shades or put together your very own version.

The kit is put together with Léttlopi from Ístex, 100% Icelandic wool. The yarn’s rustic texture and natural play of colors are a perfect match for the traditional Icelandic style.

The sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up. The body and sleeves are worked separately and joined at the armholes, after which the patterned yoke is worked in the round with decreases. The neckline is shaped with short rows, and the small details in the pattern are finished with French knots.

The pattern is included as a printed pattern.

The model in the photo is knitted in Léttlopi in the colors Charcoal (0005), Gray (0057), Dusty blue (9418), and White (0051).
